Biography

From engineering practice to foundational physics.

Felix Alba-Juez is an electrical engineer, former university professor, inventor, author, and independent researcher living in Saint George, Utah, with his wife, Susana. Born in Spain and raised in Argentina, he built his early career across mathematics, electrical engineering, metallurgy, and industrial measurement before turning increasingly toward the conceptual foundations of physics.

His professional work joined theory to practical instrumentation. As an educator, researcher, consultant, and patent holder, he worked with physical measurement in settings where an idea ultimately has to answer to reality. That habit of testing assumptions carries into his writing on relativity and quantum theory.

Felix’s books are written for the serious general reader. They challenge familiar explanatory shortcuts—what he calls “folklore”—while preserving the intellectual depth of the underlying physics. His present research develops the Ontic Probability Interpretation and QR/TOPI.

Felix’s industrial career joined mathematical models, experimental measurement, instrumentation, and software.

Industrial consulting

Through Felix ALBA Consultants, Inc., he worked with organizations including DuPont, ALCOA, the U.S. Department of Transportation, NASA, and Dow Chemical.

Ultrasonic spectroscopy patent

He developed a patented method for measuring particle-size distributions through ultrasonic spectroscopy, with protection recorded in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Japan.

Multiple scattering theory

His research developed a multiple-scattering treatment for concentrated particle systems, extending measurement into difficult industrial suspensions.

Optical analyzer & simulation

He developed an optical particle-size analyzer together with simulation and interpretation software for industrial measurement.

Technology acquired

The associated intellectual property was sold to Agilent Technologies, closing a long chapter of applied research and product development.

University research

Felix returned to the University of Utah as a Research Professor, continuing the bridge between industrial instrumentation and foundational inquiry.

The City of Arts and Sciences offered a fitting setting for Felix’s transition from industrial research toward writing for the general reader. His first book, Cabalgando con la Luz, would appear that year—bringing relativity into an approachable narrative without surrendering its conceptual difficulty.

Selected chronology

A career across disciplines and continents.

  1. Spain to Argentina

    Born in Burgos, Spain, Felix moved with his family to Necochea, Argentina, as a child. He later relocated to Bahía Blanca to pursue engineering.

  2. Engineer and educator

    While completing Electrical Engineering at Universidad Nacional del Sur, he began his academic career as a teaching assistant in mathematics.

  3. University professor

    At Universidad Nacional de San Juan, he served successively as Adjunct, Associate, and Full Professor of Electrical Engineering.

  4. Research in Utah

    He moved to Salt Lake City as a postdoctoral fellow and research associate in the University of Utah’s Department of Metallurgy, working on research and development in mineral processing and measurement.

  5. Inventor and consultant

    Through Felix ALBA Consultants, Inc., he developed industrial measurement methods involving ultrasonic and optical spectroscopy and became the holder of multiple patents.

  6. Author and publisher

    Beginning with Cabalgando con la Luz and its English edition, Galloping with Light, Felix published five works on relativity, entropy, quantum physics, and reality.

  7. Independent researcher

    His current work develops TOPI and QR/TOPI: a proposed interpretation and framework connecting probability, quantum theory, nonlocality, reality, and relativity.

Nico is a technical writer and editor living in Salt Lake City, Utah. His experience spans roles at Adobe, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, NetFoundry, and now Pinecone ↗, a New York–based startup building knowledge infrastructure for AI.

His interests include reading, chess ↗, strength training, climbing, travel, house music, and Argentine asado.

Critical reading

The publishing process has also involved a group of approximately ten critical readers. Once a manuscript is ready, the group begins an iterative review and editing period—historically lasting about two months—before Felix undertakes the final revision and publication.
